What sort of training can be provided?

This training is for people who want to learn how to create and prepare Crane & Rigging studies in the form of a detailed document, suitable for presentation either to a client or to meet internal company requirements. I train participants in the use of AutoCAD to create highly detailed and accurate rigging and crane drawings. I then teach participants how to source, compile and present the additional information required to create a Crane & Rigging Study / Lift Plan to the minimum standard generally accepted within the Australian crane industry.

What types of training are available?

There are two main types of training;

      Type 1 - Direct, in person or via Teams or Zoom etc

      Type 2 - A downloadable video package so you can learn at your own pace

Is this training suitable for you?

It is important to note that this training is intended for people who already have some experience in the crane and rigging fields.

It is not intended as an introduction to the industry, nor is it intended to turn people into crane and rigging experts. During the training I will be using terminology, and making references to things, that will be familiar to experienced crane and rigging people but may be confusing for inexperienced people. Whilst nobody will be automatically rejected, I strongly advise seriously considering what value you will get for your money if you are not already in the industry. Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss further if you are unsure.

Is this nationally recognised training?

No, it is not. As there is no formally recognised qualification in the field of lift planning, there is no point in me spending a lot of time and money to become a registered training organisation and then charging to suit. I would not be able to issue any nationally recognised certification. If requested, I can issue a statement of completion on my company letterhead which will clearly set out all the elements of the completed training.

What does it cost?

Type 1 - Direct, in person or online training

Firstly, I do not offer any fixed price courses. This is because I prefer to tailor the training to your specific needs. There is little benefit in sitting through a lot of information you may already know, or conversely, a lot of highly technical stuff that is not relevant for your requirements.

Hourly rate for all Type 1 training options is a maximum of $120 per hour plus GST. Estimating the cost to complete the various types of training is difficult as the time required will vary widely depending on each person’s industry experience and level of computer skills. Please see the Type 1 Training page for an indication of the time required for various types of training. This will give you a rough estimate of costs, but please contact me to get the most accurate estimate. Significant discounts may apply in some circumstances.

Please also note that unlike almost every other type of training, there are no minimum charges. You can call a halt at any time and only pay for the time taken, to the nearest hour.

Type 2 - Learn at your own pace video training package

Please see the Type 2 training page for details of the package and pricing.

What do I need to have to do the training?

You will need to have your own computer or laptop. At a minimum, you will need to have a word processing program (ie Word) and a worksheet type program such as Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat, installed on the machine. For the full AutoCAD training, you will need to have your own licensed AutoCAD software package installed on your computer.

How will the training be delivered?

For the Type 1 training;

This can be in person, one-on-one training at your premises or mine. I am based in Perth, Western Australia. For any training outside the Perth metropolitan area, travel and accommodation charges may apply.

It can also be provided over Teams or Zoom or similar. This can be easily done even if you are in Perth, Western Australia where I am based. This online delivery will also eliminate any costs for travel and accommodation if you are not based in Perth.

For the Type 2 training;

This is a downloadable package of 60 videos, starting at bare bones basics and progressing through to detailed and complex crane and rigging drawings. This is a one off purchase. The videos will be permanently yours to work through at your own pace.

Sounds good! How do I make this happen?

We need to have a chat about what you want to achieve with this training. Then I can tailor a course specific to your needs, and give you the best estimate of the cost. Please use the Contact form to send me your details and I will be in touch as soon as possible.
