What sort of training do you provide?

I provide practical lift planning training for people who already have crane and rigging experience and want to improve their ability to prepare professional Crane & Rigging Lift Plans. Training can include AutoCAD drawing techniques, crane and rigging layouts, information gathering, lift study development and the practical decision-making involved in producing a complete lift plan.

What training options are available?

There are two main types of training;
​
      Type 1 - Direct training

• One-on-one training, either in person or online using Teams, Zoom or similar. The content can be tailored to your experience and the areas you want to improve.

      Type 2 - Self-paced video training

• A downloadable package of 60 training videos covering AutoCAD-based lift planning, from basic drawing techniques through to more detailed crane and rigging studies.

Who is the training suitable for?
​

This training is intended for people who already have some crane and rigging experience. It is not designed as an introduction to the industry or as a substitute for practical experience.

If you are unsure whether the training is suitable for your level of experience, contact me first and I will tell you whether I think it is likely to be useful to you.​

Is this nationally recognised training?
​
No, it is not. There is no formally recognised qualification specifically for lift planning in Australia, so I do not offer nationally recognised certification. If requested, I can provide a statement of completion on company letterhead listing the elements covered in the training.

What does it cost?
​
Type 1 - Direct, in person or online training
​
I do not offer fixed-price Type 1 courses because the training is tailored to your specific needs. There is little benefit in spending time on material you may already know, or on technical subjects that may not be relevant to your work.
 
Hourly rate for all Type 1 training options is a maximum of $120 per hour plus GST. Estimating the cost to complete the various types of training is difficult as the time required will vary widely depending on each person’s industry experience and level of computer skills. Please see the Type 1 Training page for an indication of the time required for various types of training. This will give you a rough estimate of costs, but please contact me to get the most accurate estimate. Significant discounts may apply in some circumstances.
 
Please also note that unlike almost every other type of training, there are no minimum charges. You can call a halt at any time and only pay for the time taken, to the nearest hour.

What do I need to have to do the training?

​You will need your own computer or laptop. At a minimum, you will need a word-processing program such as Word and a spreadsheet program such as Excel, together with Adobe Acrobat. For the full AutoCAD training, you will also need your own licensed copy of AutoCAD installed on your computer.

How will the training be delivered?​
​
For the Type 1 training;
​

This can be provided in person, one-on-one, at your premises or mine. I am based in Perth, Western Australia. For training outside the Perth metropolitan area, travel and accommodation charges may apply.

It can also be delivered online using Teams, Zoom or similar. This works equally well for Perth-based clients and can eliminate travel and accommodation costs for clients outside Perth.

For the Type 2 training;
​
This is a downloadable package of 60 videos, starting at the absolute basics and progressing through to detailed and complex crane and rigging drawings. This is a one off purchase. The videos will be permanently yours to work through at your own pace. Please note: This package is tailored towards people with zero or very little CAD based lift planning.
